This morning we woke up to a Black Widow premiere update. It has been pushed forward, again, to July 9 but will also be available for premier access at DisneyPlus, with additional fees. This actually also means that Black Widow has taken the place of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which now has been delayed three months. As it seems, Shang-Chi will instead have its premiere September 3. The timeline has therefore also been updated with proper information.
Marvels Black Widow have recently being “promised” to be a theatrical release. With the recent shareholders meeting, this was also a promise. As cinemas starts to open in different areas in USA it seems there is no doubts of this either. However, repots have started to pop up in our monitors that Black Widow theater release will be a “last minute decision”. Disney CEO Bob Chapek confirms this in an interview with Bloomberg Markets and Finance and says they will remain flexible and see what’s coming over a couple of months.
According to a breakdown analysis from Emergency Awesome, Falcon and The Winter Soldier will take place a couple of months after Avengers Endgame. As Emergency Awesome and New Rockstars has independently still confirmed that WandaVision starts around three weeks after Avengers: Endgame and ends about a month after Endgame, we have now new “In MCU”-dates to put into our timeline.
According to New Rockstars we know that WandaVision takes place around October-November 2023. Emergency Awesome also adds that the events in that series takes place “over the course of a calendar week” and therefore the series also ends about a month after the Endgame events.
This said we will most likely expect that Falcon and The Winter soldier also occurs somewhere in 2024. Hear them out below.
With a quick check in our feeds, Black Widow seem to be remain a theatrical release. According to shortlist, Bob Chapek has confirmed that May 7 is still the release date and only for the big screen. They also say that cinemas in UK will open 17 May and therefore the film have to be delayed to get a UK release.
The release schedule was also confirmed by The Walt Disney Annual Meeting of Shareholders yesterday, which also will be the last meeting for Bob Iger – executive chairman and former CEO (2005-2020) of The Walt Disney Company as he leaves in the end of december.
They also mentioned being able to reopening theme parks (with limited capacity and strict health and safety protocols in place) and consumer product businesses, by making significant changes in how they manage and operate those parts in the company. This makes us believe that the date could remain unchanged, as long as everything goes as planned – both with reopening cinemas again, and the COVID vaccination speed.
What about premier access?
According to a rumour, not releasing Black Widow on premier access, is because of specific clauses in Scarlett Johanssons contract that prevents Disney and Marvel releasing it on Disney+. Scarlett Johanssons contract for the Black Widow movie has some special terms in it about how they are allowed to release it. Charlie “Emergency Awesome” Schneider talks about this in the below video, in the fifth minute of the video.
We do not have any more source about this (yet) than the video below.
We’ve been a bit busy the last days back, so we’re a bit behind schedule. If you have any tips or information beside the tracks we usually follow, you may want to contact us – or become a writer yourself here.
This week, we actually wait for the next tv series to start – and while waiting we try to monitor if there is news about the release of Black Widow. Meanwhile, we do have a collection of videos from our two favorite Youtubers, below.

Some says (The WandaVision director actually) that theory-hungry fans will be disappointed by the shows finale. I don’t think there will be very much disappointments here. Even if Doctor Strange should’ve made a cameo. So, what happens now? We will wait for Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and last but not least – Black Widow!
And there are upcoming breakdowns; this time, New Rockstars, was really fast out with the first one, that explains the post credits. Erik Voss (who probably broke some kind of record this week) also still speaks about Mephisto, so let’s not drop that one just yet.
Since Phase 4 is now ongoing, we’ve updated the color scheme for the old phases so that the current movies and series are reflected better to the “truth”. Also, two episodes of Marvel Studios: Legends was released this weekend that changed positions back one week.
There’s also a slight change in the scheduling that we wasn’t prepared for, regarding Marvel Studios: Legends. Apparently, the episodes may be split up and shared over two weeks.
Since the episodes of Zemo and Sharon Carter wasn’t included in this weeks schedule, they will probably streaming as planned next week (since they have been included in other websites forecasts).
In the last video of episode 9 predictions, Emergency Awesome – as an independent third party source, confirms that there is no full blown WandaVision Episode after the finale. As we’ve written before, “the tenth episode” is a bonus episode with behind the scenes from WandaVision. Hear him out below.
